Showjumping – go affiliated!

Clearing the rails

British Showjumping is welcoming new member with its Club membership, a new category that provides plenty of perks and benefits and is good on your pocket.

Club membership offers fantastic opportunities to any horse, pony or rider combination not having recorded a registered result at Amateur 90cm, British

Novice and above over the past three years. It’s important to focus on the word ‘combination’; remember, it’s the partnership that counts, not just the rider.

With combination being the key factor you can see how Club membership offers an exciting opportunity for senior and junior unaffiliated riders, producers of young horses and eventers. Competitions are run over 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1m courses with entry fees capped at just £10.

You don’t have to worry about clocking up prize money and jumping out of affiliated classes before you’re ready to upgrade. There’s no prize money in the Club category but your horse and pony’s full performance record will be posted on the British Showjumping website. This not only saves the full affiliation fee but provides a proven competition record at the click of a mouse.

In addition to collating and uploading your horse or pony’s full grading information online, Club members are eligible for regional leagues and championships. Running from June to May, the eight regional leagues are spread across the country, representing Scotland, Northern,West Midlands, Wales, East Midlands, East, South East and the South West. Club members have their own prestigious regional final.

Horses and ponies can be upgraded to become National members and downgraded to Club membership if the combination fulfills the criteria. In line with unaffiliated competitions adults have permission to ride ponies or horses. The elimination rule of ‘two stops and you’re out’ has been relaxed for Club members. They can incur three stops. First rounds will not be timed but there will be a two-minute limit. Club members are eligible for all training programmes, have access to the bi-monthly British Showjumping magazine and receive a Rulebook/Handbook.

Members also have peace of mind in the knowledge that public liability insurance is included in their value-for money Club membership fee.

Sign your horse or pony up for Club membership via the British Showjumping website www.britishshowjumping.co.uk
