From the base in Oxfordshire, Dressage trainer Debbie Beasant, Osteopath Philippa Rayne and Stott Pilates Teacher Kelly Vanderboom have joined forces to offer riders a more holistic approach to riding. Working along the same principles as the scales of training, Debbie has devised a system that cleverly parallels those principles in the rider.
Riders attending Gainfield’s one-day courses will benefit from a ridden assessment in the morning, where Debbie with Phillipa’s help can focus on position, identifying strengths and weaknesses, while offering sound advice on how to improve their riding. These are videoed so that relevant Pilates exercises can be tailored to riders’ needs.
The afternoon consists of a Pilates session with Kelly Vanderbloom. Being both highly experienced and qualified Kelly is a fully certified Stott Pilates Instructor and is able to pass on her knowledge and expertise by offering the best Pilates exercises she can to help riders make the most of their posture and performance in the saddle.
On the two or three day courses that are also offered, riders have the added option to explore the benefits of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to build confidence and positive visualisation, plus a sports massage should they choose.
Attendees can take their own horse or ride the centre’s latest addition the Anky Free Rider. Designed by Dutch dressage star, Anky van Grunsven, the Anky Free Rider is a mechanical device that moves the rider in a range of directions and speeds showing them where they may be restricted or limited in their ability to follow the movement of their horse.
